Tanning Beds DO Cause Cancer – No Question

tanbedscancerTanning beds and cigarettes have something in common.

A report published in the August issue of The Lancet Oncology establishes that all UV radiation is carcinogenic to humans. Previously the agency had classified UVA, UVB and UVC radiation as “probably carcinogenic to humans.”

Not too many people today will argue the fact that cigarettes cause cancer. The people most likely to quibble about it, speaking in shades of gray, would be the cigarette industry itself.

Now it seems that tanning bed owners and other in the “browning” industry can no longer try to science their way out of how dangerous tanning beds really are. Read the rest of this entry »

English Football’s Hall of Famer, Sir Bobby Robson Dies at 76

bobrobsonSir Robert William Robson succumbed to lung cancer this week.

Most often referred to as Sir Bobby Robson, he was admired and well-loved by many. Robson was best known for his outstanding achievements for English Football. In 1990 he was the manager behind England’s rise to the semi finals of the World Cup.

Recently Sir Rosen had become a well known symbol in England for the fight to end lung cancer. In March of 2008 he turned his attention to the “Sir Bobby Robson Foundation,” a cancer research charity. Only 6 months later in August of 2008, Roberson’s own cancer was established to be terminal. Obama Taking Race Relations to a New Level with the Beer Summit

beerIf we could all just get together and have a cold one, perhaps all our problems would be solved.

At least that’s what President Obama seems to be hoping in what’s now known as the “Beer Summit.”

The so-called Beer Summit took place Thursday afternoon, and included Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Cambridge, Mass., police Sgt. James Crowley. The meeting was to address the now-famous incident in which Crowley arrested Gates for “disorderly conduct” when investigating a possible burglary at Gates’ house. The charges against Gates were eventually dropped.

FDA Warns: Hidden Steroids in Supplements Pose a Serious Risk to Your Health

bodybuilder1If you think you’re doing your body good by choosing bodybuilding supplements that are steroid-free, you might be mistaken.

The FDA recently released a warning regarding certain bodybuilding supplements which CLAIM to be steroid-free (or contain “steroid-like” ingredients) but do, in fact, contain synthetic steroids. Such products are often marketed as a “safe” alternative to anabolic steroids and an effective way to increase muscle mass. They are widely available in both online and retail stores. What’s more, these products often slip under the radar as “dietary supplements” when, in fact, they are unapproved new drugs that have not been reviewed by the FDA for safety and effectiveness.

Mom-to-Be Darlene Haynes Found Dead, Fetus Missing

Missing FetusA 23-year-old Worcester, Massachusetts woman, Darlene Haynes, was found mutilated, wrapped in bedding and stuffed in a closet in her apartment after not being heard from for days.

Baby May Still Be Alive

It sounds like something that you might hear on your nightly 10:00 news. But this is not just your everyday murder mystery. Haynes had been eight months pregnant . . . and her fetus, a little girl, is missing.
