Females are notorious for having more problems acquiring weight loss than men. Female weight loss seems to be a problem for many which is why a lot of women turn to weight loss pills and supplements when they find exercise and nutrition doesn't help them.
There are few reasons as to why it is harder for women to lose weight over men. Women just naturally have a lower basal metabolic rate than men. This is the rate at which we burn calories at rest. Muscle is more metabolically active than fat or other tissue cells and men exceed women in muscle cells, making their basal metabolic superior to a woman's. The higher someone's metabolic rate, the easier it is for them to achieve weight loss. This means that if a woman and a man both start the same exercise and diet regimen the man will just naturally lose more weight than the woman.
Women also just naturally have a higher percentage of body fat than men. The average healthy body fat percentage for women is around 25% whereas it is only 13% in men. As stated before muscle is more metabolically active than fat cells and women have more fat than men, making it harder for them to lose weight.
Men also tend have higher levels of visceral fat, the kind of fat located around the organs whereas women tend to have more subcutaneous fat. Subcutaneous fat is notorious for being harder to lose than visceral fat. On average a man can lose 20-30 pounds on an intense 30-day diet and exercise regimen whereas a woman typically only loses 15-20 pounds. All of these factors tend to make female weight loss harder to achieve.
